Richard Holbrooke with seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan

Last week Mountainfilm Festival Director David Holbrooke spoke at the United Nations memorial service for Richard C. Holbrooke.

“A soul is what you leave behind. It is that essence of you that stays and lives on with people, and in places, long after you are no longer there. And if I think of my father in that context, I am comforted by the huge presence that is his soul.”

David was joined by, among others, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who noted “when it comes to persistence, sheer strength of will, no one could beat him.”
